Somehow, we ended up friends.
At first glance, we could have not been friends. Matt could have said, "What am I going to have in common with a large, tall black man?" And Mike could have said, "Here's another white executive at our company. There's nobody here to talk to. I'm out of here."
Thankfully, we didn't. We talked to each other. When we did, we learned we had some things in common. In fact, we learned we could be friends.
And - when it came to subjects we didn't agree on, we listened. We were respectful and empathetic. It's kind of amazing the magic that can happen when we do that.
Well, we say it's magic, but it is not, actually. It's simple. And we think that our podcast can be beneficial as we model how two individuals from different backgrounds, with different religious beliefs, and different skin colors can talk about difficult subjects.
And not murder each other. Or even harm - physically or emotionally. In fact, we might...just might learn to understand where the other is coming from.
A big thank you to Nicki for the artwork. Neither Mike nor Matt were making any progress in that arena. The theme song is a parody the Matt made because or Mike's personal feelings about the song.
Get on board. Enjoy the show.
